AN IMPACT ANALYSIS OF FINANCIAL TRANSACTION MADE BY SELF SAVING GROUPS AND SELF-HELP GROUPS ON COMMERCIAL BANKS IN DIBRUGARH DISTRICT, ASSAM

Self-help groups (SHGs) are formal groups which are formed by consisting 10 to 12 members for improving their lifestyle by engaging in various independent works. For engaging in works they get financial assistance as loans from banks with low interests. Similarly, Self-Saving groups (SSGs)are also a informal groups consisting members of 10-15 for improving their financial conditions. They save money and invest money in their groups and give loans to its members at low interests. Self- Saving Groups does not aspire any financial help from banks. In the present study it is evident to observe that Self-Saving groups does not do any transactions with banks but Self-help groups are engaged with banks as they take loans for their groups and returns the interest on loan amount. Thus, we can conclude that Self-help groups in Dibrugarh district of Assam are creating an impact on bank transactions directly, whereas Self-Saving Groups are not making any positive transactions with bank in the region.
